Did you know that straight teeth can improve your overall health?

Not only do straight teeth improve your smile and give you a cosmetic boost, but straighter teeth can also help stop health problems in their tracks.

Crooked teeth can lead to periodontal disease, gum recession, and they can also put stresses on teeth that lead to premature wear and chipping.

Also, did you ever wonder where your headaches are coming from?  They could be coming from crooked teeth that are putting excess force on your jaw.  That excess force could be what’s leading to more headaches than you might otherwise have.

Crooked teeth can be a big deal for both looks and health outcomes.  Over 74% of adults in the US suffer from crooked teeth, according to Scientific American. It’s important to find a solution before crooked, overstressed teeth lead to more serious negative health outcomes.

So, what are your options for fixing crooked teeth?

Before 1998 and the release of Invisalign®, traditional braces were pretty much the only option available to get straighter teeth.

Back in 1981 when Dr. Kososki started practicing dentistry, braces were a relatively primitive technology that were installed almost exclusively by orthodontists.  Braces consisted of large, bulky, metal bands placed around each tooth.  The bands were connected together by a wire that could be tightened or loosened depending on the desired outcome.  Orthodontists installed these metal bands using a tool called a “thumper.”  Not exactly comforting…

If you consider how painful, expensive, and invasive traditional braces are, it’s understandable why many people chose to live with the health consequences of crooked teeth rather than get braces.

There’s good news:  It’s not 1980 anymore.

Better options for teeth-straightening are now available to everyone through Invisalign® at Kososki Dental.

There’s no need for invasive brackets and wires. There’s no need to be self-conscious about your smile while it’s being perfected. The era of traditional teeth straightening with bulky braces is over.

Kososki Dental is a proud Invisalign® provider. We’re excited to be a part of the teeth-straightening revolution that uses advanced imaging technology and removable trays to offer a less invasive and better-looking way to get a straighter smile.

So how exactly does Invisalign® work?

We start with advanced imaging technology that creates a detailed map of your teeth.  Then, based on those images, custom trays are manufactured specifically for your upper and lower teeth.

You’ll wear each set of upper and lower trays for two weeks. As you progress through the sequence of trays over time, they slowly move your teeth into perfect position.

Because Invisalign® trays are removable, they can also be taken out while eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. You get the same beautiful results as traditional braces, but without the wires, brackets, and having to constantly spend time cleaning food from the metal in your mouth.

The system requires a visit to the office every six weeks so that treatment can be monitored. Once treatment is complete, you might be issued a retainer to keep your smile in place.

The cost of Invisalign® varies according to the complexity of the case. Insurance policies generally cover Invisalign® to the same extent that they cover traditional braces.
